Shell Ridge Hike and Picnic

Enjoy the view in the Diablo foot hills at Shell Ridge open space in Walnut Creek. This will be a 3.75 mile hike with rolling hills, mostly on fire road trails. We will have a picnic lunch after the hike. Please bring a main dish for yourself and maybe a little something to share with the group if you like. We will have the picnic back at the trailhead, so you will not need to carry any of your food items.This is a moderate to easy hike.Carpooling is recommended as the parking lot is very small and there is a good chance if we don't car pool there will not be enough spots! Please post in the comments Of our Meetup site if you can give people a ride. What to bring: Water! Sun protection (this is a very open area with no shade) Lunch for a picnic back at the start of the hike. Any rain the day before or the day of will cancel this hikeDogs are allowed, but please be aware that there are cows in the areaThere are restrooms at the location.

Meet at : Bob Pond Picnic area, which is on the way to Old Borges Ranch at 1035 Castle Rock Road, about 1/2 mile past Northgate High School. You will turn off Castle Rock Road to the right when you see the sign for Old Borges Ranch. This is a narrow road with two way traffic, so take it slow. Please leave plenty of time so that you are ready to go at 10am
