Evening in Elkhorn Slough National Marine Sanctuary is always magical and when conditions are favorable, we may witness the extraordinary light show produced by bioluminescent plankton. During the summer and early fall, bioluminescent algal blooms may light up the dark night water with every stroke of our paddle blade.

On September 20, GLS is once again teaming up with Kim Powell of Blue Water Ventures. Leaving from Moss Landing, we'll have a leisurely paddle through Elkhorn Slough before full darkness is upon us. We will be using double sea kayaks which are very stable and easy to use. No previous kayaking experience is necessary. Our trip will begin with a quiet observation of 20-30 sea otters that reside in Moss Landing Harbor. Sea otters, harbor seals, and an array of migratory birds make the protected water of Elkhorn Slough an ideal trip for wildlife enthusiasts and those new to the sport of kayaking.
