  • Briones Park

Try out this moderate 9 mile loop hike through grassy hills with approx. 1600 ft. total elevation gain nearby Lafayette and Orinda. We'll begin our hike climbing up Old Briones trail, then to Pine Tree trail. We'll loop back on Toyon trail, then Lagoon trail. We'll take in scenic views from the Briones Crest trail as we head back to our cars. Because these trails get very muddy after a hard rainy day, the hike may be cancelled.

Bring lunch and plenty of water.

Wear layers and bring sunscreen (mostly exposed area)

Parking Fee: $3 for a car and $2 for a dog

Rain or mud cancels

Hike not recently scouted, may have to huddle over a map.

Directions: From CA 24, exit Moraga/Orinda (exit 9). Drive north on Camino Pablo Road for about 2 miles, then turn right onto Bear Creek Road. Drive on Bear Creek about 4.4 miles, to the park entrance on the right side of the road. After passing the entrance kiosk, continue straight to the parking lot.

Level: Moderate(2B)
