Join the San Francisco Bay Rainbow Sierrans and Loma Prieta GLS for a 5-day, 4-night weekend camping trip to hike and explore beautiful Little Lakes Valley in the John Muir Wilderness. Along with a string of alpine lakes set amidst mountain peaks, we’ll find stands of aspen, cottonwoods and willows that live along the water’s edge. We'll set up camp at Rock Creek Lake Group Campground (9,600') located south of Mammoth Lakes on the eastern side of the Sierra. Our campground is "walk-in" and located in a secluded area overlooking the lake.

We will be at high altitude. You must be be comfortable camping and hiking at 9,600' and prepared for potentially cold temperatures at night. All trip members must plan to be self-sufficient campers, including meals, beverages, camping gear and supplies.

The campground offers potable water and flush toilets. This is a tent site only. Motor homes, trailers, campers or other recreational vehicles are not permitted. Fishing and boating are permitted. Dogs are not allowed.

Pay showers, a grill, and a camp store are available at the nearby Rock Creek Lake Resort. There are boat rentals on the lake near campground or you could bring your own kayak.
